The Adapted Athletics Physical Therapy Clinic is a pro bono clinic designed to aid adaptive athletes in our program with manual therapy, recovery, and corrective exercise.
This clinic is run by the Adapted Sports Physical Therapy Student Organization under the direction of Faculty in the Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program at SDSU.

The CSULB Neuro Pro Bono Clinic offers physical therapy for individuals with neurologic disorders who have exhausted their benefits but still show potential for improvement.
Participants work with two second-year Doctor of Physical Therapy students, receiving bi-weekly therapy sessions for 6-12 weeks based on their needs. All sessions are supervised by the clinic director, a Board Certified Neurologic Clinical Specialist, and two licensed physical therapists.

Programs Offered:
Stroke Boot Camp - free, 2-week intensive program for chronic stroke survivors, providing interdisciplinary, patient-centered care from healthcare professionals and graduate students.

Community Exercise Program (CEP) - free exercise classes for individuals with balance, coordination, neurological, and mobility impairments. Led by licensed physical therapists and graduate students, the program welcomes caregivers and offers free parking.

The Pro Bono Offerings at SMU (Oakland) 2024 are individualized Sessions that are taught by 2nd-year physical therapy students under the supervision of licensed, board-certified faculty. Each session lasts six weeks (excluding holidays). Sign up is first come, first served. Session 1: Musculoskeletal conditions (e.g., back pain, knee pain, shoulder pain) Session 2: Neurological and musculoskeletal conditions (e.g., Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Stroke)
There are also group classes taught by 3rd-year physical therapy students under the supervision of licensed, board-certified faculty. Each session lasts six weeks (excluding holidays).
Classes Offered:
Mama Bear Fitness
For pregnant individuals to maintain or improve strength and balance through various stages of pregnancy. Includes strengthening, balance, and core exercises. Recently pregnant individuals are also welcome.

Staying in Motion with Multiple Sclerosis
Designed for individuals with multiple sclerosis, this class offers seated and standing exercises to improve strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, and range of motion, promoting overall functional mobility and fitness.

Shadow Boxing for People with Parkinson’s Disease
A moderate to high-intensity class incorporating non-contact shadowboxing, Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery (PWR!) moves, dual task movement challenges, and high-intensity aerobic training. Suitable for those comfortable walking without a mobility aid. No boxing experience needed.

Feeling Confident: Fall Prevention and Recovery
Aimed at educating adults on fall prevention and recovery, this low to moderate intensity class improves confidence in balance. Suitable for individuals who can walk independently with or without a mobility aid.

The health and wellness community clinic serves as a learning environment for Allied Health students, preparing them for employment in the healthcare field. It aims to support the community by providing dental and physical therapy services to those with financial limitations, without competing with existing providers.

Clients receive treatment from students under the supervision of licensed clinicians, contributing to both the students' education and the community's health needs.

Lestonnac’s Physical Therapy (PT) program began mid-2019 through collaboration with Kaiser Permanente PT students.
This program has allowed for patients to receive essential rehabilitation for chronic pain and/or any physical issues resulting from trauma or illness.
​
This clinic also offers free HIV testing, diagnostic imaging testing, and behavioral mental health services.

The MN provides pro-bono PT for underprivileged residents at Midnight Mission, an non-profit organization focused on reaching out to the homeless, located in Skid Row, Downtown Los Angeles.

Physical therapists, as well as students of physical therapy who have completed at least one clinical rotation, provide direct physical therapy treatment to patients.
(They also have opportunities for volunteers who do not fit into either of these categories, so they invite you to volunteer regardless!)

Occupational Therapy students USAHS campuses can participate in one of 13 innovative OT Pro Bono Clinics. Under the supervision of licensed OT clinicians, students provide comprehensive OT care to both adults and children, including stress management and unique activities like cooking classes for young adults with disabilities.

These clinics offer essential services to clients who lack access to occupational therapy or need additional services not covered by insurance.
