Dateability, Making Love Accessible

mfarrell72

“darling, you are all I ever wanted love to be”

In honor of Love month, I want to share a really awesome resource. Jacqueline and Alexa Child are sisters who cofounded the world’s first modern disabled dating app —

“With Dateability, users can find love in a safe space that minimizes the ableist behaviors and expectations perpetuated by society.” It’s a platform where individuals with physical, intellectual, and psychiatric disabilities can connect authentically. For instance, there is a section called Dateability Deets where users can choose from an extensive list of broad terms, such as ‘wheelchair user,’ ‘mental illness,’ or ‘service animal’ to disclose details of their disabilities in a way that does not divulge too much specific information about a person’s diagnosis or condition.

Things to keep in mind:

✨ The app is free!!

✨ Having shared experiences and similar life values is really important. Keep an open mind and you may just find your person on this app.

✨ Dateability is redefining the landscape of disability dating, however this is still a relatively new app. As they continue improve the app and build their community, the user base will grow. According to a Reddit response, they currently have 15k users signed up.

Give it time, give it a try, and let us know how it goes!
